Youth MinistryPeace Lutheran Church Youth Ministry
Mission Statement ·
For the youth to
develop a relationship with God through a better understanding of scripture,
application to their lives, and interaction with other youth that share a
similar faith system. ·
Prompt the youth
to engage in service work at the international, national, community, and
congregational level. ·
To allow the
youth to use their God-given gifts to lead others. ·
Encourage the
youth at all ages to become an active part of the church. ·
Participate
in fundraising to support social ministries and activities. Youth
Group Youth group meets the 2nd
and 4th Sundays of each month at 5pm. Youth
group is off to a very busy start. There are a lot of upcoming events and our
youth are eager to get back into the swing of things. Twelve of our youth
will be attending the Rend Lake Gathering on February 19-21.
Five youth will attend the YRU 16 Gathering in Carlinville on February 26-28. The
Be Like Jesus event at Faith in O’Fallon is being held on March 12 & 13.
We currently have ten youth registered to attend this event. Camp
Wartburg is offering a Confirmation Camp for those going into 7 & 8 grade on
June 21-25. The cost for this event is $185.00 per person; there will be an $85
non refundable deposit for those attending and the remainder paid through the
Youth Fund. If you show up for the event the youth account will reimburse you
$25.00. Registration deadline is May 12, see Mike Foppe (Sire Poppy) if you wish
to attend. Leadership
Lab will be held July 19-24 at Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois.
Each participant must have completed 8th grade to attend. Leadership
Lab is an intense week of study, worship and building relationships from
8am-midnight each day. June 1 is the deadline to register. Those who wish to

General Mills “Box Tops for Education” logos and Campbell’s Labels for Education! The Women of Peace and the youth are collecting box tops and labels for a new van for the Navajo Evangelical Lutheran Mission in Rock Point, Arizona. We invite everyone to participate. Give them to a youth, Jamie, or deposit in the marked containers in the kitchen. We appreciate your continued support of this project. |
